Salfords dance troupe star in festival
Young dancers from our school showcased their talents at the 2023 East Surrey Dance Festival, where they performed to an audience of hundreds at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill.
Sixteen children from Years 3 to 6 took part in the Star Steppers annual event, which featured 1,000 performers from 40 schools in the region, and included six different shows across the week.
It was the turn of the Salfords dance troupe to take to the stage on Tuesday 7 March, when they performed to ‘One More Time’ by Britney Spears – a routine they had been rehearsing since the start of term.
“The children attended an after-school club, which was up to an hour’s practice each week for a term,” said Emma Trinidad, who runs the Dance Club alongside fellow teacher Nicola Oake. “The children showed such dedication and were even seen practising in the playground at playtimes.”
She continued: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity of visiting a theatre, watching other schools perform, and performing on stage. They overcame their nerves and performed brilliantly.
“Events like this are so special, as it provides children with an opportunity that they might not experience otherwise. These events enable the children of Salfords to showcase their talents for all to see.”
