Absence

If your child is absent from school for any reason, (including medical appointments) please telephone and leave a message on the absence line as soon as possible. Please leave a message by 9.00 am each day of their absence. Office staff will then deal with all messages received.

If your child walks to school on their own, please telephone the school by 9.00 am so that we can account for your child.

It is essential that you provide us with the reason that your child is absent, otherwise the absence will be recorded as 'unauthorised'. Any absence can result in a loss of continuity for your child’s education and upset their balance of learning. As a school, we are required to provide details of all unauthorised absences to the Local Education Authority.

Should you need to take your child out of school for exceptional circumstances, please complete the below form and return to the school office via the silver letterbox next to the front entrance.

Absence for Medical and Dental appointments

Every effort should be made to avoid making medical and dental appointments during school time. Where this is unavoidable parents should put this in writing to the teacher in the planner and attach a copy of the appointment card or letter before the date of the appointment.

Child under the weather form

We are introducing an "Under the Weather" form for parents to let us know when a child is feeling slightly unwell but is still attending school. This will help staff provide extra support and monitoring. The form can also be used to tell us if your child has had paracetamol or ibuprofen and when it was last given. The form must not be used if your child has a temperature, sickness, or diarrhoea. In these cases, please follow NHS guidance and report the absence as normal.
